Christmas season has started…official or unofficial, everyone is doing it.  Black Friday, Black Friday week.  Cyber Monday, Monday before Thanksgiving.  And I’m LOVIN’ it!

Presents wrapped & shipped.  Food goodies ordered.  Cards handwritten & addressed (mailing Wednesday; nothing pre-Turkey Day except for Mom).  ‘Tis the season  🎁🎄

Japan next week.  busy Retail Season at work & THREE FAMILY gatherings.

Country Christmas, Connecticut Christmas then Colorado HOME for Christmas Day.  Festivities kick-off December 21st.  It’s the most wonderful time of the year  ♪ ♫ ♬ ♭

Christmas Cookie decorating at PS today.  Super competitive, super tasty too.

Happy early Holiday Season!  Gobble gobble & Ho Ho Ho 🦃

Thanksgiving Saturday tomorrow.  Wearing my eatin’ britches 🍴❤️

Back to normal reindeer games 2020.  End of a decade, almost.  2Y20.  Probably take me another 10 years to get thru the Waltons (series, circa 1975).  DVD guilty pleasure.  [John Boy’s off to college now – middle of Season 3.  Don’t tell me how it all ends.  LOL>]

Halloween 2019 – been a crazy snowy one this year in Colorado.

SATURDAY.  First marathon-free weekend since mid-August.  Kicked off with a trail run/hike in Bear Canyon.  Mud/ice/snow littered but GREAT to be outside, get some altitude, soak up the thin air.

Post run?  Dinner theatre with Ash & Tom.  Mamma Mia!  SUPER fun, campy.  LOVED LOVED!  Mamma Mia Mai Tai’s & an ABBA sing-a-long storyline.  Chiquitita, Waterloo, Winner Takes it All… and of course, Dancing Queen.  FAMILY quarterly tradition.  Home before season’s THIRD blast ❄️

SUNDAY.  Louisville’s Halloween-themed MonsterDash.  Afternoon start/stop in Community Park.  Cold-motivated to a 3rd place old-person [Masters] finish.  Get out & get it done.  LOL>

11-year history: rain never ever, temps in the 60’s.  Well not THIS year.  27 & SNOW.  Brrr…

Post run?  Hunkered indoors.  Fireplace.  Lasagna.  Couch-watched the biggest flakes with Pup ❤️

MONDAY.  4WD to work; tight 12 hours between storms.  A record FOURTH October storm Tuesday/Wednesday.  Foot of snow, sub-zero windchill.  Yikes!  More trick than treat.

Daily Camera Retweeted  #Boulder has received 11.2 inches of snow during this storm so far

Halloween’rs:  Grab your EPIC pass.  Lifts opening before Thanksgiving this season – earliest ski start in 22 years.  Keystone, A Basin, Loveland, Winter Park, Eldora.  Colorado HOLIDAY TREAT 🎃⛷️

Cornfields, wide open prairies & the CFL Rough Riders.  Friday nite travel to Regina – Saskatchewan’s provincial capital.  Geographically above North Dakota; skies that stretch forever.  Great Plains SMILE 🙂

Nothing direct to Regina.  Nada.  Calgary on the way out, Vancouver on my return.  Little dot on the prairie.  Clean, tidy landscape.  Neat yards, one large university, provincial dome mile from my hotel digs.  Expo Saturday at the Conexus Arts Centre, early sleeps, chilly 39 degrees marathon morn.  YES!

Redemption search.  Huge mental fail last Saturday in Ohio.  Air thick/humid/oven hot & an evening race (excuses come easy) – it’s the mental collapse, that’s always hardest to bounce back/recover from.

Hitched a ride with another runner to Sunday’s Start.  Our far North cousins – super friendly.  Lake along Lakeshore Drive completely masked in fog.  [Wascana Lake] Near perfect run conditions.

Queued back-of-the-pack.  Cap off, soaked up the country’s anthem.  Almost 8000 of us.  Held back first mile, steady even pace.  10K thick with Halfers.  No tunes/earbuds quiet ‘til after the split.  Easy, flat, forgiving course.  Just enjoying the day.  Museum, capitol dome.  Lotta bike path, lotta parks.

Shed a layer, carried my gloves.  Douglas Park, Rambler Park, Wilson Park.

Folks should give ‘the Queen City’ a little more love (Pile-of-Bones renamed in 1897, after Queen Victoria).  Beautiful day, happy town.  And my finish?  Back on track.  Completion 161, Canada medal #8.

Newfoundland to BC, Toronto to the Yukon.  2020: every Province, every Territory 🍁

Montréal in 2 short weeks.  Parlez-vous français, eh?
