After an unseasonably warm January, super happy to wake to 8 inches of powder.
Long run day in Boulder – 20 miles.
Still not fast but slowly transforming into an endurance athlete — it’s happening. Finally reined in food intake, have stayed consistent with training – balancing short speed work with long endurance days. Feeling good, body’s strong.
4 consecutive marathon weekends in February (Fort Smith, Myrtle Beach, Hyannis & Little Rock) – have never run back-to-back-to-back-to-back in my life. Not expecting PRs – but one sub-4 would be awesome.
Re-consumed all 2600 calories burned in the a.m. during Ash’s 2nd annual Super Bowl jalapeño popper & wings fest. Another FAAANNNNTASTIC spread! [Click HERE to view last year’s grub.]
Game ended on 2 ridiculous plays – a 33-yard juggling catch by Seattle’s Jermaine Kearse, immediately followed by an interception 1st & goal, with only 20 seconds left in the game. Final score: Pats 28-24.
- long run day in Boulder
- Ash’s hot wings – I stopped at 8 🙂
- bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers
Super Bowl XLIX : New England Patriots vs Seattle Seahawks
Sure I just ran Vegas last Sunday but that was 6 days ago – time for my 2nd BONUS marathon of the year, Oklahoma’s Route 66 Marathon. Nope, not crazy – just focused on the prize…all 50 states by 2016 year-end 🙂
[small world moment] Met fellow Maniac, Stacy at DIA Saturday morning & boarded a plane to Tulsa – short 2 hour ride.
Another flight, another marathon – nope. Meeting family on the other end of today’s Southwest flight. FAAAANNNNTASTIC!
20 minute drive to the Runner’s Expo at Cox Business Center (downtown Tulsa) for bib pickup AND a quick walk-by of some sexy post-War America rides…vintage Route 66. Nice job Tulsa – super classy.
From there [we] hit the highway. My brother scored box seats to a college football game, Arkansas vs. Mississippi. Ole Miss might be Top 10 but today’s game was dominated by the home team 31-0! Woo pig sooie, go Razorbacks!
Ended pre-race activities back in Tulsa – dinner with Mom, bro, sis-in-law & niece.
3 marathons in a single month (Indy, Vegas & Tulsa) – a new K* record. Friends & family at all 3 – SPECTACULAR!
7:30 picture time tomorrow morning. My first run dressed in Maniac yellow, marathon #16.
- more friends, more family, more running – off to Tulsa for marathon 16!
- bib pickup & vintage rides
- box seats on a rainy day – yeah, that’s how we roll 🙂
- LOVIN’ me some family time — Woo Pig Sooie!
It’s been a busy Fall season – lotta work, lotta marathoning — and a warm one too! After an early September 11th flurry fest, unfortunately saw no snow in October – zero, nada, zilch.
Autumn has always been my favourite season – foliage colour & cooler temps. LOVE it! Always feel like – yes! made it thru another summer 🙂 Autumn = hot apple cider, pumpkins & county fairs.
Having Ash & Tom as housemates meant homemade pumpkin cookies for our fur babies, Ro & Marty, festive outdoor decorations AND a whole lotta Halloween candy for costumed trick-or-treaters while I travelled to Indy. Fall 2014 = a new car for Ash after her Jeep Liberty was crushed by a deer (5pm, in traffic, in Boulder — shows it can happen to anyone).
Autumn = Football. I’ve seen more NFL this season than I have in years. In addition to the weekly office pool, Ash & Tom are part of multiple fantasy football leagues. It’s crazy, dysfunctional fun — Ash’s rooting for the Bengal’s kicker, a wide receiver from Arizona & Denver’s quarterback. Whereas last year I watched the Broncos & [New England] Patriots (old habits die hard), this year my house is engaged all week. Monday night, Thursday night & all day Sunday. Will be sad to see the season end.
so long summer, FALL has arrived. #ROOOOOAAAAARRRR
- check out that sunset – SPECTACULAR!
- pumpkins & scarecrows
- Ash decked our digs
- this guy’s all smiles
- Fall baking – Ro & Marty pumpkin cookies
- my turn on the couch?
- office bet gone wrong — Cowboys over the Giants
- Happy Halloween!
