FAMILY ❤️

Day & a half with FAMILY – just what the doctor ordered.  Peace.

Lotta details this past Fall.  11 marathons including a new Canadian PR.  6-month stomach woes diagnosed – intestinal parasites (never mind heat & humidity/don’t drink water from random paper cups during a Brazilian marathon).

Lunch at Calico County (fried green tomatoes – YUM!)  Both Saturday/Sunday nites, living-room movies with FAMILY.  “I Can Only Imagine” – awesome flic ‘bout Forgiveness.  ‘Abusive dad’ themes generally I avoid.  Good film.

Church morn Sunday with Mom brought clarity.

Dog who attacked Ro was someone’s pet.  It wasn’t a rogue animal.  Aside from filing a Police report to keep the Public (my Louisville neighbors) safe, that’s that.  All vet bills were picked up by Pup’s kennel.  Excellent care – wrong righted.

Unexpected things happen in life.  If your child is injured at school, you don’t kill the other kid in retaliation (though I tell ya, that was my gut first 2 days).  Life forward.

Mom, Bro – love ya to the moon & back.

Mark your calendars.  Registered for the Fort Smith Marathon in February.  Team 4-Layer Delight & Sis RETURNS (celebrating Williamsburg Kitchen’s 40th anniversary)!  Bro – you & your ugly bent finger are running the third [relay] leg.  Surprise 🙂

UPDATE:  Back home, all tech’d up for 2019.  Thanks everyone!

9 years in Connecticut, never been to Coventry.  Certainly never seen divine Miss M’s new digs.

*BIG NEWS*  Michaela & Eli closed on their FIRST HOME post-Thanksgiving.  Busy time o’ year.  Move, unpack, design, decorate.  Housewarming party TWELVE days later.  Whaaaat?  Only Michaela could pull off that kinda impossibility.  Living room rug arrived morning of their party.  Timing!

Wood floors throughout.  Downstairs Master, two bedrooms upstairs, full basement, comfortable kitchen & a laundry room.  Outdoors?  Acre+ of TREES & a BRAND NEW PORCH.  Homing together.  Eli’s gas grill, Michaela’s patio furniture (umbrella/table/chairs).  Summer invite please 😊

Close 5-minute drive up Riley Mountain Road, holiday’d at Jill & David’s country home.  Their second year in Coventry – lovely bi-level, ROCK fireplace, outdoor pergola, whole lotta natural wood.

M designed the PERFECT room for Dave – a Disney World EXPLOSION.  All his favs accessible & on display.  Permanent SMILE, surrounded/walled with LOVE.  So happy lil’ man.  Heart soar.

Downstairs, holiday dinner/all the fixin’s.  Spiraled ham, deviled eggs, Grandma Paralee’s dressing recipe, M’s sweet potato casserole.  Folks, THIS is why I marathon.  Much food in my belly.  LOL>

Post-meal X-Mas exchange.  Disney collectibles/new computer for Dave, clothes/purses/shoes for Michaela.  Jill & I also gifted this holiday: filtration-strawed Brita bottle (him), sea turtle lamp (her).

FULL MOON on the Mass Pike, nite-finished with generational activities.  M took Sis’ T-rex purse for drinks while Papa black-n-white nestled to ‘The Bishop’s Wife’.  2 States down, one Christmas to go 🎄

Christmas in Connecticut

Skirted work couple hours early, delayed flight connection in Baltimore, touchdown: Manchester, half-past midnite.  East Coast travel without the marathon run obligation.  Let the games BEGIN – Christmas Trifecta 2018! 🎄

HUGE house party at Stephen’s home in Merrimack.  Catered meal, table/chairs/dishes/glassware rentals AND a Holiday Program – Stephen on piano, carol singalong led by one of his choral chums, guitar teacher accompanied (banjo/violin/guitar).  WOW, right?  Home season-decorated: wreaths (plural), red bows, TWO CHRISTMAS TREES, winter reindeer scene.  If you’re looking for a holiday-themed wedding reception, I’ll forward his contact # – soup to nuts, notta detail missed.

Started Saturday with an 8-mile run.  New England wooded, finished before winter blew.  Swim laps & sauna at the Y – second shower and a pair of dress pants.  Missed the ‘no jeans’ text.  Luckily, share a waist-size ‘though looked like I was expecting high water (couple inches taller than Stephen).  LOL>

Stephen’s brother Harding & family first to arrive.  30 minutes next, the upstairs swelled.  Shrimp, baked brie, sherbet punch.  Holiday hugs, kids zooming room-to-room, whole lotta ‘catch-up’ conversations.  Family, work friends, neighbors – HUGE mix of LAUGHTER.  Dinner best served while HOT.  Beef, chicken, veggie lasagna – seriously, no detail forgotten.  Just WOW.

Tune TIME.  Schofield Family are a musical bunch.  Remember house parties on Moses Clark Road (years ago in northern New Hampshire) with Trudi & the Pioneers.  GREAT memories.  Those of us without the gene were handed tactile instruments – spoons, tambourine, washboard – wallflowering not an option at Harding & Donna’s cabin.  Accordion/fiddle/piano, Irish laughter ❤️

Fast forward 2018.  Silent Night, Come All Ye Faithful, Joy to the World.  Reading of the Christmas Story (book of Luke), memorable holiday duet AND of course SANTA CLAUS.  Down from the North Pole, SANTA shared stories, handed the kids gifts & mugged for photos.  Well done bub.

Christmas Eve update:  Back in New Hampshire, afternoon-exchanged with Stephen.  Apps, soup/salad/fondue at Sheila’s home.  Neighborhood lit with cheer; holiday welcomed.  Gift-shared with son Dan, Ashley & their young family.  Boys.  Eat fast, play hard, open gifts – zoom zoom zoom.  Highlight: new SKATES & a Cow puppet (purchased pre-Portland Marathon).  Super kind inclusion 🙂
