top-of-world BIRTHDAY
August is BIRTHDAY MONTH – and the 21st, my far-away top-of-the-world CELEBRATION day.

Direct flights on Iceland Air. Denver to Reykjavik; M a short 5 hours from Boston. Keflavik meetup – convenient 45 minutes between touchdowns. Luggage, Monopoly money. Sleep another day.
Today – it’s my BIRTHDAY! Go, go, go!
Airport transfer to Iceland’s Blue Lagoon (lava field on the Reykjanes Peninsula). M bought the deluxe package (bathrobes, shoes, double the mud). Geothermal heated, water sweating volcanic minerals/silica. OUTDOOR SPA day. Would leave 10 years younger. Scandinavian fountain of youth. LOL>
Long soak followed by birthday DINNER. 3 courses, foreign palate – FAAANNNTASTIC eats!
Late afternoon commute into the capital. Bus Stop #3. Our new home away from home. Me, the Hotel Borg. M & Eli, an Airbnb apartment short 10-minute walk. Iceland, dig this place!

With Ash & Tom island-holidaying in the DR – lucky Papa, a week with the Grandpup. Double the canine count, double our daily Rez walks, double the LOVIN’. It’s a Marty Party! Both pups nudging for Papa’s affection – who doesn’t wanna back scratch? Truth – did find myself competing for bed space 😊 Bros sprawled side-by-side. Doggie Summer Camp. LOL>
Another summer tradition? Rockies BASEBALL. Gotta admit, not as much fun without Ash (chugging $10 beers). Adopted PS’ Chief Engineer’s son Logan – week continuing with the ‘granddad’ theme. Far better than parenting – play time’s over, pass ‘em back to mom & Dad. Dig it!
Oh…and the Rockies lost. Last year in the playoffs, this year – just last.
Bottom of the division. Bring on 2020! Coors Field, awesome place for SUMMER ☀️
Last honey-do done – wood blinds installed. Peaches purchased (Palisades peaches, a Colorado MUST). Full flat; prepped & froze for winter. Gonna miss this year’s festival, travelling north on Friday. FAR NORTH – to the Canadian Arctic. Canada’s Northwest Territories.
Ten weeks of marathoning. First stop, Yellowknife. Crazy excited, go ME!

Summer Break (Aug 2019)
THIRD generation
THIRD generation. Both my dad & Granddad owned Ford trucks. Independence Day 2019 joined the legacy, bought my first truck – an all-American FORD. Built in Kansas City; parts from US, Canada & Mexico. North American made. Dig it!
Hard to say goodbye. Will miss the Jeep. Fave life-to-date vehicle, good Colorado fit. Said something about ME & my Life-2nd Half identity. Owned it outright/title mine.
Jeep however also the money pit. Every 3 months another $800-$1000. Right strut, left axle, points leaking oil. Black Hills week, 2nd warm day of summer & no air conditioner. Another repair. When’s enough, enough? Season hasn’t even started. Argh.
Touchdown Rapid City. Hertz rental, a Ford F-150 — a giant gas-guzzlin’ truck?
Colorado HOME 2 days later & the rest is history. Welcomed my first Ford. South Dakota rental in charcoal gray. Same exact truck – little more tricked out.
Big engine, comfortable ride, all the creature comforts. LOVE LOVE my new ride.
July is FORD month. Happy Birthday U-S-A! 🇺🇸
