Boulder County

Last day with the Grandpup – past week just flew by.

Fried egg each day on his breakfast, Greenie before my 15-minute work commute to Boulder, Pupperoni treat at bedtime.  Ro’s bro, BIG heart.  Everybody gets spoiled!

Colorado weekend home, AMAZING weather.  What to do?  Was given strict orders: NO hikes for Marty, recouping from an elbow injury.  Bummer.  Think, think, think.  Coot Lake by the Rez.  Flat, less than 2 miles ’round & a SWIM MECCA for dogs!

Party Marty’s not a swimmer.  Ro however couldn’t get enough.  Dog days of summer.

Afternoon SNOOZE fest for all 4-leggers; ice cream at Sweet Cow for Papa.

LOVE LOVIN’ Colorado summer 🌞

After a MONTH of over-the-top TRAVEL, next 25 days of Colorado-only comes open-arm welcome.  Appreciate the amazing opportunity to see/experience so many diverse cultures & landscapes – #luckyinlife super thankful – just missing my Rocky Mountain home.  All ’bout Balance.

August 1st – Colorado Day (1876 statehood), free access to all State Parks

August 2nd – Grandpup Marty’s first day with Ro & Papa.  Ash & Tom flew East Coast to see family/friends AND attend another summer wedding.  Papa doubled his Pup count for a week; Ro gained a hunting partner.  Rabbits.  Squirrels.  ALL MUST DIE.  Morning/noon/evening walks ‘round our two local reservoirs, Hecla & Waneka.  Kill count 2 this season.

Saturday morn – hometown Downtown.  ATM-robbed my bank account then a personal best to self-support Louisville’s Farmers Market.  Duck eggs, dried fruit, craft Kombucha & jarred pickles.  BUY, BUY, BUY.  Finished off the a.m. with breakfast at Huckleberry’s: corned beef hash & eggs.  FAAANNNNTASTIC!  A-ok to fall off the diet wagon every now ‘n then, right?

Late afternoon movie.  No one outgrows Pooh, EVER.  GREAT to be Colorado HOME! ❤️

Farm to Feet – 100% American Made Socks

Wanna keep it USA LOCAL with your socks?  My CT bestie forwarded the preceding link.  Pricier than your average WalMart tube socks but 100% comparable to SmartWool (my personal choice in running/hiking socks) – AND they’re USA made 🇺🇸

Subject: socks
From: Dawn

This one gets their wool from US source also (Smart Wool doesn’t).
Have you tried them? If so, how do they compare to Smart wool ones?
Oh, and I think the guy in the video may be a kindred spirit to you.

As always, wish we were closer because I miss you.

Memorial Day 2018

  • Today we REMEMBER.  Honoring those who Serve & Protect.
  • Today we CELEBRATE our democracy/our freedom.  USA – Land of the Free, Home of the Brave.

Midnite arrival from Buffalo, early start in the a.m.

Public Parked: S Boulder & Hwy 36 – 6:30am RTD Bus to the Start.  First time I’ve run the Bolder Boulder since 2014, event’s 40th anniversary.  Running the day after an East Coast marathon finish, not the best prep for a great finish time – but knew that in advance.  Today, hangin’ back at a jog pace & enjoying everything Boulder.  (BIG thanks to my neighbor Larry for the PUSH to register).

Bolder Boulder’s a mighty unique race; just never slowed down & enjoyed the ride.  Mid-race slip-n-slides, beer chug, flaming Doritos, BACON, an AMAZING VIEW of the Rockies – and that FINISH, a 200-meter lap in CU Stadium.  FAAAANNNNTASTIC!

Only THREE people win money.  I’ll run fast next year.  Today: ‘Snapshot’ Monday, gonna enjoy the ride – Air Force fly-over, belly dancers, dancin’ Cows & that STADIUM FINISH.  Pics of every ‘K’ – kilometers one thru 10.

Of the SEVEN times I’ve run the Bolder Boulder, TODAY the funnest 😊
