Boulder County

Having survived heavy snow, 60mph wind gusts, & sub-zero temps just a day earlier, didn’t seem like super timing for a company tour of Celestial Seasonings — but this is Colorado!  Just hang in there!

Woke to bright sunshine (& below zero temps) – perfect day for the Boulder Tea Tour.

Take the FREE Celestial Seasonings Tour!

Don’t miss your chance to see the world’s most advanced tea production plant. We offer FREE tours every day (except major holidays) so you can see first–hand how the finest all–natural ingredients from around the world become your favorite Celestial Seasonings teas.

Favourite moments:

  • Hair Net (& later being asked to wear a Beard Net)
  • the Mint Room – while most folks eyes were burning, think I could spend all day in Mint 🙂
  • Celestial Café – I like to eat, lunch was tasty, ‘nuf said

What did I retain?

  • Most of Celestial’s teas are not teas at all – but rather, herbal blends of spices, plants & berries
  • Conceptually I think I understand the decaffeination process – but don’t quiz me 🙂
  • Hawthorn is some scentless berry, full of antioxidants. World’s biggest producer of Hawthorn berries is Chile. [Beginning of the tour, just after receiving my beard net – clearly I was wide awake, all synapses firing…LOL>]

If in Boulder, take the tour.  As ya’ll know, FREE is for me!

Happy Thanksgiving 2013!

Thankful for so many things – family, friends, great health, sunshine, mountains, snow & my Colorado home (of course).

Found myself completely caught up in the holiday spirit this year.  Signed up for not one but TWO 5K charity runs.

The trick was finishing Louisville’s 9am Turkey Trot (supporting Flood Relief) & driving to Boulder in time for the 10am Community Food Share 5K.  Backseat full of non-perishables for 9am’s charity & canned goods for the 10am run.

Crazy huge turnout for my hometown Turkey Trot.  Excited to see 2 trucks filled with donations.  Feel super lucky & blessed that my home & most of Louisville was spared from September’s epic (500 year) flood.

Ran this first 5K mighty fast, almost breaking 21 minutes.  Quick photo with Santa — in the car & off to Boulder.

Community Food Share’s mission is to ensure that no one in Boulder and Broomfield Counties goes hungry.

What better mission than to feed our neighbors.  Dropped off 3 bags of canned goods.  Big smile.

Sunshine, warm weather – and another big crowd, all ready to run.  Beautiful view of the Flatirons, just east of CU campus.

Ended the day at M’s brother’s home for turkey & fixin’s.   No holding back this holiday – already ran off my calories 🙂

Working in a university town allows the extras in life, without the hustle & bustle of a city.

Ok, ok — Boulder is not NYC but still mighty nice to visit a planetarium — on a random Thursday night 🙂

CU’s Fiske Planetarium recently re-opened after a 10-month renovation project – so has been the talk around the office.  HD movies, laser shows – and live presentations too.  Purchased tickets to a live show titled ‘Colorado Skies’.

“The naked eye can see about 6,000 stars.  Our new projector is so powerful that you can use binoculars inside the planetarium to see millions of stars and the beautiful Milky Way.”

I still maintain my starriest night ever was in Steamboat a few weeks back – 3 hour drive, 2 miles up a dirt road, snow camped after.  This night at Fiske Planetarium – 10 minutes away, blue comfy chair in a temperature-controlled building.

There’s room for both in my universe.  Highly recommended!
