Most of us support charities thru direct giving or donating/sharing our time.

I support Autism Speaks; autism afflicts a very important person in my life, David.

Additionally I run local races to support other causes close to my heart – Community Food Share on Thanksgiving (no individual should go without food), Juvenile Diabetes (for Michaela), MS (for Sheila & for Lyndon).

My efforts are small.

For 5 years, Cliff Lungaretti has been ALL-IN in his support of Movember.  Autographed Cliffy baseball cards, cozies, t-shirts, hats, Clay Cliffy – like I said, ALL-IN.   Selfless.  ALL proceeds go to rid the world of ‘man-cer’ (man cancer).

I was lucky enough to have hired Cliff years back in NYC as he was climbing the corporate ladder.  Super smart, super funny, amazing character, honest guy.  It’s a-ok to recognize those around you who truly Inspire.  Cliffy – you ROCK!

Movember (the month formerly known as November) is a moustache growing charity event held during November each year that raises awareness and funds for men’s health.

 

At the start of Movember guys register with a clean shaven face. The Movember participants known as Mo Bros then have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their Mo (slang for moustache) and along the way raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues – specifically cancers affecting men.

 

The average life expectancy for men is five years less than females.

 

Men lack awareness about the very real health issue they face, have an attitude that they have to be tough – “a real man” and are reluctant to see a doctor about an illness or to go for regular medical checks.

 

The aim of Movember is to change these attitudes, make male health fun by putting the Mo (moustache) back on the face of fashion and in the process raise some serious funds for men’s health issues.
