Run the Year 2016

Run the Year Motto: Run, Crawl, Walk, Conquer, Dominate 2,016 miles in 2016

GOAL COMPLETEsure I was 10 days late…but still super pumped that I finished 2,016 miles.  What seemed like a completely impossible goal last January, just happened folks.  WOW, WOW, WOW!

And that it happened today, January 10th was even more special.  Sister’s birthday is today – my initial running inspiration 4 years agoAND my post-chemo endoscopy is scheduled this afternoon.  More than ready to put 2016 in the past.

Happy Birthday sis.  Happy Life day me.

12.31.2016 text from my running buddy Carolyn: Nearly 2000 miles, months of consecutive marathons in spite of chemo – maybe inspiring is a better word than impressive.  (many thanks friend 🙂 )

Run the Year – 12.31.2016

Happy New Year, KEENAN

Run The Year 2016 has officially come to a close and we would be lying if we said it didn’t make us a little bit sad and nostalgic.

The RTY family is real and the most inspiring group of people we have ever had in one of our challenges. Thank you for the memories and the miles. Thank you for sharing your miles and fitness journey with us.

It means more than we can express in words to hear your stories of transformation, tragedy, and triumph. It means more then we can express that you chose to take a trip around the sun with us the last 366 days.

No matter how far you traveled in 2016 please be proud of every mile. It takes courage to get out there and attempt a challenge like this which is why most people just think we are crazy.

Thank you for the memories of 2016. CONGRATULATIONS on all you accomplished and we wish you an even better year in 2017!

Run the Year Motto:  Run, Crawl, Walk, Conquer, Dominate 2,016 miles in 2016

December 2016 update:  Banged out my last 2 marathons of 2016 but struggled with daily consistency – that said, 101.5 miles (more than all of November) with still another half-month to go.  Biggest excuses: Sub-zero weather (yep, that time of year) & two more chemo treatments (last scheduled on December 22nd 🙂 ).  Finding it harder & harder to bounce back, true energy zapper.

December focus: FINISH STRONG

Race ReCap:  Death Valley Trail Marathon in Furnace Creek CA & 3 Bridges Marathon in Little Rock AR.  Ran 29 marathons this year (including 3 ultras) PLUS kept my monthly streak alive.  37 consecutive months marathoning!

Mileage ReCap:  mid-month tag at 1,873.2 miles; 143 miles short with only 13 days to go.  Yikes!

Run the Year Motto:  Run, Crawl, Walk, Conquer, Dominate 2,016 miles in 2016

November 2016 update: 2 steps forward, one step back.  After completing my greatest # of miles in October, followed that with my weakest run month of 2016 – only 98.7 miles total.  Shared time with family in Orlando, then again during Thanksgiving week.  No regrets.  Struggled accumulating miles during the later stages of chemo (3 remaining treatments in December).

Checking-in mid-month December (& again at year-end), in an attempt to stay motivated/push hard/& finish 2,016 miles in 2016.  Will have to bang out > 200 miles one-last-time to meet the challenge.  Can’t fail if you don’t try 🙂

2 month focus (November & December): FINISH STRONG

Race ReCap:  two East Coast marathons: sub-4 miss (by mere minutes) at Marshall University in Huntington WV, just over 5 hours the following weekend in Orlando…but won my Age Group 🙂   36th consecutive month marathoning – 3 solid YEARS!

Mileage ReCap:  weakest month of the year, ended November at 1,771.7 miles (76 short, one month to go).

Happy December, KEENAN

This is it! You are in the final stretch and it is time to Finish Strong! How many miles can you add to your total before December 31st? What will the benchmark be for 2017?

Re-commit to running/walking your way through the holiday season. Keep the miles coming and prepare yourself for your best year yet when the clock strikes 12:00am on January 1st.

You have come a long way this year. Hold your head high and be proud of your progress. Finish the year strong and healthy and ready for more in the new year ahead. You’ve got this!
